Boulders & Yard Art Rock

Decorative boulders, coquina rock & yard art stone in DeLand, FL

Sometimes a landscape doesn't need another yard of mulch — it needs one good rock. We carry decorative boulders and yard art stone by the pound at our DeLand yard: fieldstone boulders in grays and earth tones, Florida's native coquina rock with its unmistakable shell texture, and big smooth river flats that look like they've been polished by a creek for a century.

These are one-of-a-kind pieces, so the inventory is always changing as new loads come in. The best way to buy a boulder is in person — come walk the yard, put your hands on the rock, and pick your pieces. Or call and tell us what you're building and we'll tell you what's on the lot.

How to pick a boulder

  • Bring photos of the project area — we'll help you match the scale.
  • Measure the approximate space where the rock will sit.
  • Think about access from the street to the placement spot.
  • Go bigger than you think — rocks look smaller once installed.
  • Smaller pieces ride home in a pickup or trailer.
  • Larger pieces take planning — ask about current delivery options and access.

Want flat stone for a patio or path instead? See our flagstone page — and for crushed coquina for pathways, see crushed coquina.

How much do I need?
Choose bigger than you think: a boulder loses about a third of its visual size once it's bedded into an open yard. Bring photos and rough measurements of the spot and we'll help you match the scale.

What is coquina rock?

Coquina is Florida's native shell stone — a soft, porous rock made of compressed shell fragments with a warm, sandy color and a coastal look you can't fake. Larger coquina rocks make distinctive accent pieces, borders, and water feature stone. (If you want the crushed version for paths, see our crushed coquina page.)

What do people use decorative boulders for?

Focal points in beds, yard art and sculpture bases, mailbox and address-marker surrounds, natural borders and edging, water features and pond surrounds, and holding down a corner of the landscape that needs visual weight. One well-placed boulder can anchor a whole bed.

How do I pick the right size boulder?

Bigger than you think — a boulder that looks huge on the lot shrinks once it's sitting in an open yard, and a third of it may sit below grade if you bed it in naturally. Bring photos and rough measurements of the spot and we'll help you pick pieces that fit the scale.

How do I get a boulder home and into place?

Smaller accent rocks ride home in a truck bed or trailer. For larger pieces, ask about current delivery options — availability may vary by distance, access, load size, and site conditions. Think about the path from the street to the spot before you buy a big piece.

Do you have a price list for boulders?

Boulders and yard art rock are priced individually by the pound, and the inventory changes as loads come in — so there's no fixed list. Call for what's in stock and current pricing, or come walk the yard and pick your pieces in person.
